From this workshop, you will go home with a handmade piece of silver jewellery. Ros wants to explore combining her love for nature with her talent for making jewellery so we are going to be her experimental group!
My name is Ros Wood and I am a Memory Catcher. I specialise in capturing your memories, like fingerprints, the handwriting of someone dear, your kids’ drawings, leaves or special objects picked up from your favourite place or holiday. I have over 10 years of experience in creating handcrafted jewellery in fine silver, sterling silver, gold and bronze. I will work closely with you to ensure that you have a piece of jewellery, keyring or artwork that reflects your memory and is unique and special for you.
Precious Metal Clay
Precious Metal Clay (also known as pmc, silver clay or Artclay) is a relatively new and innovative product which enables you to make real silver jewellery without the need for expensive specialist equipment.
Silver Clay consists of fine particles of silver suspended in an organic binder, which has the consistency and properties of traditional clay.
It can be rolled, stamped, textured, folded and moulded to create a wide array of shapes and designs. Once dry the clay is fired under intense heat, the binder burns away, leaving you with a perfect piece of jewellery in solid 99.9% pure fine silver.
All you need is a table, a good light, a few basic tools (some of which can be found in your kitchen drawer) and a good imagination!
At Silverwood Jewellery you will find a range of courses to suit everyone, from the complete beginner to the more advanced jewellery maker wanting to learn new techniques. Class sizes are small and the courses can often be tailored to your specific needs. At the end of the course, you will go away with a piece of jewellery or more to enjoy and show off to friends and family.
Silverwood Jewellery holds valid public liability insurance and a recent up to date CRB certificate.
